‘Pokémon Go’ will let you catch Pokemon on Android smartphones and iOS devices

Niantic Labs and Nintendo announced at a press conference on Thursday that it is going to bring Pokémon in the real world with the game ‘Pokemon Go’. The new Pokemon Go game for iOS and Android with Niantic’s location-based backend will have you catching, fighting and trading the pocket monsters in the streets around you.
Both the companies did not show off much in the way of gameplay, but one may guess that the app will be free to download, with in-app purchases for additional content. The players can also purchase an optional Go Plus wearable that runs on Bluetooth and pairs with both Android and iOS. The Go Plus looks like a Pokeball flashes and vibrates notifying you that something is happening in the game in your neighborhood. That way, players won’t be staring at their phones while walking around the city, waiting for something to happen. It also goes a bit further than that though, and you can even use the Go Plus to capture a wild Pokemon.

Players get to catch Pokemon, battle with other trainers, and trade with them. It does sound like a real life version of the Pokemon video game. In a prepared statement, the Pokémon Company’s President and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara says “Our challenge was to develop a great game for smartphone devices that expressed the core values of Pokémon.”
It seems pretty much like what you would expect from a Pokémon mobile game. Pokémon Go is slated for a 2016 launch on both the iPhone and Android smartphones/tablets.
